Photo portrait. Elmer B. Baker, Jr., Ph.D., Litt.D. (ex officio), New York City; Vice Dean, School of Education, Health, Nursing and Arts Professions, New York University. Baker attended Emerson College from 1941 to 1943 and received his B.S, M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from New York University. In 1969 Dr. Baker received an honorary degree from Emerson College and was elected to the Board of Trustees; Later elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees in 1979.

The Emerson Press Club covered a mock presidential election. Students, posing as news correspondents, traveled to East Boston Airport to study how election return stories and pictures would be sent by airplane to Boston dailies.
